Chicago to Participate in the World’s Big Sleep Out
Global Sleep Out to Call for an End to Global Homelessness
On Saturday, December 7, the Institute of Global Homelessness will be hosting the World’s Big Sleep Out. In neighborhoods throughout the world, people will sleep outside in unison to create a global moment of solidarity for those experiencing homelessness and displacement.
The event will raise funds to tackle homelessness and for refugee-focused causes internationally. In fact, there will be 50 official events throughout the world including in Trafalgar Square, London, Times Square New York and in Chicago!
Chicago’s Sleep Out will be hosted by DePaul University with a goal to raise $1,000,000 with 2,000 participants. Half of the funds raised in Chicago will support two local nonprofits, DePaul USA and All Chicago Making Homelessness History. The other half of the funds will go to organizations fighting homelessness and helping displaced families internationally: The Institute of Global Homelessness, UNICEF USA and the Malala Fund.
