Mayor Rahm Emanuel today joined officials from Prescient to open the company’s global headquarters in Chicago. The global risk management and technology company employs 60 people at its new, state-of the-art facility located at One Prudential Plaza and expects significant job growth in the coming years.

“Prescient sees in Chicago what GE Healthcare saw earlier this week – our diverse economy, skilled workforce and strong economic future make our city the ideal place to locate a headquarters for a truly global company,” Mayor Emanuel said. “I am excited to cut the ribbon on this new space and help set Prescient on the path to even more success in the years ahead.”

Prescient, previously headquartered in McLean, VA, combines leading-edge technology solutions and analysis to humanize intelligence and help clients mitigate enterprise-wide risks. The company’s 23,616-square-foot new facility supports operations for a comprehensive suite of due diligence, traveler safety and risk management services for domestic and international business.

“It has been an exciting year for Prescient,” CEO David Walsh said. “Our move to Chicago has already resulted in significant growth and opportunity for our new commercial platforms. We have hired incredibly talented professionals who possess the ability to take our platforms to the next level.”

The facility serves the company’s principal staff comprised of professionals from the intelligence, federal law enforcement, special operations, software engineering and business communities.

Prescient had considered Miami, FL and Charlotte, N.C., for its headquarters and chose Chicago because of its talented workforce, transportation networks and the diversity of the city’s economy.

“We’ve seen a steady stream of tech companies choose to locate and expand in the city in order to access Chicago’s unmatched talent pool, and we welcome Prescient to our engaged business community,” said World Business Chicago President & CEO Jeff Malehorn. “The city’s workforce, paired with Chicago’s thriving business services sector, will allow Prescient to continue to grow and add jobs for Chicagoans.”

Today’s announcement follow’s news earlier this week that GE Healthcare is moving its global headquarters to Chicago. The $18 billion unit of General Electric is currently headquartered in the U.K. and provides technologies and services to meet the global demand for increased access, enhanced quality and more affordable healthcare. The company is the second of GE’s eight business units to relocate their headquarters in Chicago, following GE Transportation’s move in 2012.
