7.7% GROWTH
in home, financial, and travel purchases in the next 5 years
South Chicago was once home to the massive steel industry and the landing space for immigrants from all over the world. The first major enclave of Mexicans in Chicago, its residential and commercial development centered around the thousands of people who worked in the mills. The land and lakefront that became vacant with the demise of the steel manufacturing industry have left behind a host of assets that will fuel redevelopment – space, transportation, the Calumet River gateway, an excellent Southeast side location, and a willing workforce. It's An Attractive Market for Investment
Situated between Chicago’s lakefront and the Calumet River, South Chicago is emerging from its industrial past as the home of the once-thriving South side steel manufacturing district to a community teeming with opportunity and the potential and space to become the city’s next major development. Natural assets abound, including the Bessemer Park Nature and Wildlife Garden and the 12 mile Burnham Greenway Trail that connects residents to parks, golf courses, and nature preserves.
